Tree condition reports

Tree condition reports cover a tree owners legal responsibility in making sure trees on their property don't present a danger to members of the public or their property.
one of our qualified consultants will survey your trees using the Visual Tree Inspection method. The data collected will be formulated into a concise and easy to understand report which will be sent to you as a hard copy for your own records.

Tree Condition Reports contain the tree species, the trees dimensions and its physiological and structural condition. Armed with this information the consultant can recommend remedial works if required as well as an inspection schedule.

Arboricultural Impact Assessment

An arboricultural impact assessment evaluates the direct and indirect effects the proposed design will have on retained trees, as well as the impact on the design of any trees which may have been previously removed. The assessment will take into account the value each tree offers the site by determining its remaining contribution in years, ecological impact and aesthetic value. Each report will also include measures such as remedial works to any trees if deemed necessary. Works will be carried out in accordance with BS3998, protection zones for rooting areas as well as materials to be used in the creation of these protection zones will be in accordance with BS5837: 2012. In cases where designs fall within the root protection zone of a retained tree, the assessment will offer construction methods for structures in accordance with BS5837: 2012.

Managing trees in a public place

We offer detailed surveys and management plans for areas open to the public which have large numbers of trees. Using one of our Management Plan Reports we will produce a comprehensive survey with recommendations for works if required as well as an inspection timetable based on findings. Management Plan Reports are suited to estates, care homes, schools and golf clubs.

Arboricultural Method Statement

Arboricultural Method Statements are written in a clear and concise format setting out instructions for contractors working on-site on how to protect the trees marked for retention in accordance with BS5837: 2012 during construction. In most cases an Arboricultural Method Statement is required to accompany a planning application, method statements must be approved by the Local Planning Authority prior to works being carried out.

Bs5837 surveys

Planning departments require a BS5837: 2012 Survey when trees are on or adjacent to a site which is marked for development regardless of whether it's commercial or for residential. Tree surveys offer clear and concise surveys in accordance with BS5837: 2012, we use the latest arboricultural software to chart trees over a topographical map of the site using a categorisation method to determine the which trees will be marked for retention or removal.

Why do I need to have my trees surveyed?

Managing the potential risks posed by trees is the legal responsibility of the tree owner or manager of the land on which they grow. All tree owners or those in a responsible position have a ‘duty of care’ to ensure their trees are kept in a reasonably safe condition. Forestwood Tree Services provide no-nonsense guidance to the tree owner to ensure moral and legal tree-related responsibilities are fulfilled.

What if I want to ensure my trees are healthy?

There are many factors that can cause stress to trees; poor soil, nutrient deficiency, drought, pests and diseases; these can manifest as visible symptoms such as small, sparse leaves or dieback. But what if we were able to detect stress levels long before they became visible, thereby allowing us to intervene sooner and remedy the problem before it gets worse?

Forestwood Tree Services can carry out tree vitality monitoring and stress detection on any number of trees using state-of-the-art Chlorophyll Fluorescence testing equipment. Testing allows us to compare the gathered data to a strong baseline of thousands of trees of the same species and detect very small deficiencies in vitality. Where appropriate, we can recommend and implement treatment methods to improve and maintain good tree health. Repeat testing can also be used to confirm how effectively a treatment is working.

What if tree roots are damaging my building?

Trees can have an adverse effect upon a building’s stability depending upon the type and size of the tree, type of sub-soil and distance from the building. These issues are multi-disciplinary, and by combining the expertise of building surveyors as well as arboriculturists we can properly address the likely causes and implement appropriate remediation measures.

In addition to problems of subsidence, the close proximity of trees may cause direct damage due to structures due to the incremental growth of roots or stems.
